Warm Your Hands: Mugs Without Handles

Although temperatures in our part of the world haven't dipped too low yet, we know that soon it will be brisk and chilly in the mornings. Our daily cup of coffee will be for warmth as much as for caffeine, and we love to fold our hands around a hot steaming mug for as long as possible. Here are a few mugs we love that don't have handles to get between us and oour hot cup of coffee.

TOP ROW
1 isak Porcelain Lidded Cups, $15 at Huset Shop.
2 Radiator Mug, $30 at Elemental.
3 Hot Cocoa Mug, $25 at White Forest Pottery
4 Keyaki Wood Tea Cups, $40 for a set of four at Rare Device.
5 Three tea bowls, $35 at Stringbean Ceramics.

Do you have a favorite Japanese-style teacup or favorite coffee mug?

I think I'm going to check out thrift stores because the prices for these are too much for me.

I believe the fourth one (the wooden one) is a yunomi (pronounced you-know-me). It's the style of cup Japanese drink their tea out of. Looks like a more modern version, though.

Anyway, in Japan you can get yunomi at dollar stores, so perhaps some cheaper ones would be available online?

My absolute favorite are the Marimekko latte mugs:

They also make a larger verson, which is great, too! I use them every day.

I prefer my mugs to have handles. I can always ignore the handle if I need to warm my hands. But to have a handleless mug can be a pain to use if your drink is piping hot.

Most of the tea I get at East Asian restaurants that I go to with my parents get served in handle-less mugs, and I'm always annoyed at how long it takes before I can take a sip without burning my hands or tongue! Hehe! I prefer handles so I can warm myself up on the sides of the mug for a bit, but still have the handle to use when it's too hot to hold for long. So... I feel purposefully getting handle-less mugs right now to replace handled mugs is kinda silly unless this was already something you were into and have.
