The Stand: Put Your Fruit On Display

We love showing off fall produce in our kitchens and on our tables; there's such rich color this time of year! We just showed you a few good fruit bowls, but then we found these pedestals, which give a whole new meaning to the phrase "produce stand."

These fruit and vegetable pedestals are such a whimsical statement for the table. They are made from solid wood, left over from this craftsman's larger furniture projects. We love that he puts the wood to use in such an interesting and creative way!

Each set includes five pedestals ranging in height from approximately 5" to 9", and they're shaped on top to help cradle produce. They are finished with a food-safe beeswax salad bowl rub. The craftsman says that they are surprisingly stable for a variety of produce sizes when care is taken with the set-up and positioned on a smooth and secure surface.

We think these stands are pretty awesome. They're not as practical as a fruit bowl, of course, but if you have gorgeous heirloom tomatoes or pretty sugar pumpkins, why not flaunt them? Fruit and vegetables are some of the most beautiful things in the world. Put them up where everyone can see.

Those are pretty cool. I wonder if museum wax would keep the cats from knocking them down... Is that stuff food safe, does anyone know? I don't really need fruit/squash/veggies splatted on the table because curious paws just HAD to touch.

@violetcassis, I'd say $52 for a set of five is pretty reasonable. I'd happily $10ish a pop for these, they're gorgeous.

I love these. Unfortunately if they were in my kitchen the fruit would only last a few seconds on their stands because of my curious cat.

I think my cat would think this was a new game just for her...
