apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Tableware from Reine Mere
Toulouse, France

madame-de-egg-cup.jpgStéphane Clivier and Didier Lachaizehe -- the Toulouse-based design duo behind Reine Mère (Queen Mother) -- create what they call "practical and poetic objects" for the home, like this egg cup that could also work as a sushi plate, with a built-in soy sauce bowl. Made in France, their collection of wood and porcelain objects have a pared-down elegance and a modern but timeless aesthetic that they describe as "chic & écologique."

This knife rest with a built-in vase would also work as a chopsticks rest on a minimalist table.

The "12 Pommes" fruit basket looks great with oranges, too.

And the "Room Service" platter with a built-in coaster and Duralex glass, makes a coffee break for one more appealing.

The knife rest and fruit basket please me the most. And if I order room service, I will get at least one Duralex glass :-)
