Design Friday: Skase Teacup

2007_11_30-Design.jpg

Nestle this cup in your hand because it can't stand on its own. From designer Steve Watson, the Skase Teacup. He says: Symbiosis - A close, prolonged association between two or more different organisms of different species that may, but does not necessarily, benefit each member.

Well, we don't know about all that, but this piece is certainly gorgeous. 50 limited edition pieces are available for £25 through the designer's website.

That's attractive but pretty silly. What if you have to put it down quickly so as not to burn yourself and the stand isn't handy?

Yeah, come ON. This is a ridiculous idea in the name of art. Why would you want a tea cup that you can't set down directly on a flat surface?

Not to mention that you have to put it very precisely on the stand. And if its little handle gets nudged off its rest, even when it's on the stand it still will spill.
