We're suckers for cake stands. Yes, they're awfully trendy (and have been for a while now) but we can't get over them. We're currently loving these nickel dessert stands from Room Service Home.

They are definitely luxury splurges, with hand-blown, etched glass cloche covers. We quite like their elegant look and the height they could add to a buffet table.
• Cake Stand with Cloche, $199
• Tall Pastry Stand w/Cloche, $179
I just rescued a cheese tray from my mom's give away box. Like a cake stand, but without the stand, yknow? Any ideas of how I can use it? When I entertain, it's like beers and BBQ, not fancy cheese and wine. And cakes are for special occasions only. But there must be something - edible or decorative - that would make sense under that pretty glass dome.
