Yogurt Cake on Chocolate & Zucchini

2006_01_13-gateau-yaourt.jpgThis just in from our reader, Kristian: a tip for a great yogurt cake recipe (Gāteau au Yaourt) from Chocolate & Zucchini.

Clotilde says "It is a fluffy, cloud-like and moist affair, not too sweet, and just perfect for any time of day -- breakfast, dessert, afternoon snack, any time at all, trust me."

And apparently this is the first cake that French kids learn how to bake. Awwwww...

i saw this on clotildes sight and made it a month ago, it was very simple and yummy, especially good with tea. and she's right it is good just about any time of the day.

I made this for breakfast this morning!!! I substituted grapefruit juice & a bit of grapefruit zest for the rum. Very easy & soooo good!

I made it, too! The only change I made was using vanilla sugar. It was very yummy, next time I will try adding berries, though.

Generally, I don't care for cake but this looked like the kind of cake I would like. Not too sweet and easy to make (no beating eggs, sugar, or butter -- just mix!).
It's great. I reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup since I'm always worried about things being too sweet and it was perfect. I, too, thought juice and zest would be good replacements for the rum.
If serving formally, I would make a fruit sauce for it.

I made this cake last night . . . thanks for the recommendation. I topped it with carmelized pineapple from a Jacques Pepin recipe. So perfect. Yum.

My preschooler and I made this a couple of days ago. My dad and sister came to visit that day and the cake was completely gone by bedtime! I was surprised at how light the cake was given the ingredients, and my dad, who doesn't like yoghurt, thought it was excellent.

I'd definitely like to jazz it up a bit, though -- it seemed a little plain for my overstimulated tastebuds. Even a little lemon zest and juice, or some flavoured yoghurt as other people have mentioned.

So simple and so yummy!
