We're very intrigued by the current craze for bacon in sweet treats. We first noticed the trend with this Bacon Baklava over at Food & Wine. Here's another version of Maple Bak'nlava over at Holy Shitake.
The food blog world is fully on the brown sugar 'n' bacon bandwagon now; Jumbo Empanadas makes a batch of Bacon Brittle, pictured here, and calls it cocaine for pig lovers. She got the idea from this Bacon Toffee. Looks oddly craveworthy. But what do you think? (Don't forget the Bacon Caramel.)

YES! I've just gone back to meat (after 10 years veggie), and it was bacon that brought me back. Stereotypical, I'm sure, but my willpower was snapped by delicious pork. I'm going to make Bacon Brittle this weekend, for sure.

Why not? They're deep frying Twinkies at state fairs. Actually, though, the mixture of salty and sweet is a delicious combo that takes many forms. One amazing party treat is to take thick, crunchy potato chips and dip half of each in melted chocolate, then let them cool. I really wish I hadn't just thought of these. I want them. Right now.
And I'm with Nadarine--if I ever thought about going vegetarian [and THAT will never happen, trust me], bacon would be the deal breaker for me.

Coco Rouge, here in Chicago, makes the most amazing truffles I have ever had. The last time I was in there, the gentleman helping me suggested I try their maple bacon chocolate bar. It sounded intriguing so I bought 3 of them.
One of the most amazing things I have ever eaten. It's got that combo of salty, crunch and chocolate, but different from anything I'd tried before. Definitely recommend it!

I don't know why this grosses me out. Bacon dipped in maple syrup is one of my most favoritest things in the world. But baklava... I just can't.
