Survey: Do You Cook While On Vacation?

2008_08_15-Survey.jpgIt's Escapes Month around Apartment Therapy this month, and we're curious about your cooking habits while on vacation. Do you go away places where you can cook (or perhaps even take cooking lessons)? Or is it a time to take off from the daily rhythms of shopping and cooking? Tell us!

especially with small children, I feel like cooking is a great way to keep some normalcy (and hopefully keep things more affordable) during a vacation. though it is nice to have a break and just indulge in new flavors!

loove that photo, btw.

Once a year, our whole family takes a vacation together to the beach. We each take turns cooking - basically showing off our favorite new recipes. It's great fun and from the very simple to the very complex, we eat very well and no one is saddled with all the work.

I like to whenever I can. It's a great way to experiment with local ingredients.

Last time I was in the Caribbean I found that grilling was a great way to meet other people and share conversation over a beer.

For some reason I always feel a little uncentered if I don't have a kitchen and the ability to cook, even if it's just pasta. I really dislike eating out every night. Call me crazy, but it feels like a hassle to go out while on vacation. (not that I mind the occasional meal out, but sometimes the options are limited, and finding a place to eat at every meal can be a pain.)
