Survey: August Plans

2006_07_27-august-survey.jpgFancying ourselves a little bit Euro, we like to take some time off in August, and generally slow the sites down for the month. Starting next week, expect some lighter days on the blog. We'll use this time to try out some of the writers in consideration for the two positions on The Kitchen, so if you are in town, get ready to read some new talent

Now that's therapy. Promote vacation. Me . . . I am out of here in August! Eighteen days on the beach in the Caribbean.

Have you already notified the writers that have made it to the next round? Do tell, I'm on pins and needles.

Emily, not yet. Everyone will be notified, whether selected for the next 'round or not.

Cheers!

Can't wait to see who's going through to the next round! Any ETA on the decision?

My only request for the August low-time, is to keep bumping the open-thread up to the top of the page!

(Is there a way to keep all openthreads as the #2 or #3 listing at all times?)

I like to read about other people's culinary experiments and menus.

my french cousin is coming from paris to stay with me here in la for HER august holiday. she is bringing her 8 year old son so we are going to do "kid usa" including a few days in yosemite (with a grownup stop in paso robles for a few wine tastings), a screening of fantasia at the hollywood bowl and brunch at the magic castle. and of course we will be introducing him to the melting pot that is american food including hamburgers (in and out), lobster rolls and fried clams, mexican food, layer cake and cupcakes, brunch and breakfast, chinese food, korean food, thai food, etc.

Yes, the Open Threads!
This came up awhile back . . I wonder if you could add an Open Thread button, say under the yellow Archive button.
The OTs are quite lovely . . .

I'm with JendPDX and guido, OTs rule!
I enjoy reading about what people are experimenting with in their kitchens, their cooking plans, menus, ingredients, successes, things to do diff. next time, etc. Most of the time I'm inspired to try cooking something similar myself or are reminded of ingredients and recipes. I've also gone back to old OTs to retrieve recipes & get ideas!
