Our mission is to help and inspire you to cook. Simple as that. Having launched in December, we've pushed through the winter months, when the farmers' markets are barren save for the root veggies and apple cider, and many of us struggle to find inspiration from ingredients alone. Despite such handicaps, we think we've done a pretty good job.
However, spring is here. The crops will soon start rolling in. Before you know it we'll have local strawberries, and then it's only a matter of time before ears of corn start perking up around the markets. When the glory of spring hits, we'd like to know how we can best be of service...

There are lots of great food resources all over NYC, but it seems like the Kitchen has been focusing on a scant few. I'm all for Astor Wines and Trader Joe's, but how about an article on the pros and cons of, say, Murray's Cheese store versus Artisanal, or where to find the best whatever (tamales? knishes? fancy salt?) in NYC? More internet resources for buying products would be great too.
how about a dif. feature every now and then spotlighting a different food and equipment resource? sahadi's one week, fairway another. take us into the rich, but unexplored world of astoria, perhaps, and deeper brooklyn. I'm so into your farmers'market highlights as well. And we Kitchen folk should take over a restaurant sometime and break bread together, perhaps.
With spring technically here and summer on its way, I'd like some gardening tips.
just to totally rip off maaaartha, i like everyday food's "have you tried..." section, where they give you half a dozen recipes featuring an unfamiliar or intimidating ingredient (well, something the average housefrau wouldn't think to buy--this month it's leeks). maybe combine that with a market report: what's in season, four or six ways to cook it.
but mostly i'm just hoping to get out of my ten-recipe-and-variations rut. :)
I voted for the Market report but would love to see pictures of people's veggie gardens, too.
Also, I really like when readers post what they've been cooking with pictures and recipes, especially when people are cooking stuff that's in season or special.
