Hot Drinks: What's Keeping You Warm This Week?

2007_12_17-HotDrink.jpg Hot cocoa with a big, fat marshmallow... Piping hot coffee with a caffeine kick... A well-made espresso with a curl of steam... Sweet, milky tea fresh from the teapot...

We are keeping our hands cupped around a hot drink as much as possible right now. Coffee or an Americano in the morning is an essential, but so is lemon ginger tea in the evening. If you're battling a cold or the flu, try our Flu Season Ginger Honey Lemon Tonic.

What's keeping you warm right now? Any plans for special spiked hot drinks over the holidays?

Godiva hot chocolate and rum... with some whipped cream, of course!

I'm always drinking tea, whether it's cold or not (this is our tea cabinet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/13108435@N03/1356985760/in/set-72157601953721707/ )
But the other night I made some good hot chocolate with droste cocoa and plenty of marshmallows, yummy!

I just like steamed milk, with a little dash of vanilla syrup...ie the "melted marshmellow."

I just learned how to make a really good Chai.

It's a white chocolate Chai latte. You could substitute Rooibos for a decaf version.

Brew a good loose leaf chai or rooibos. Steam or bring soy milk close to a boil and whisk in pieces of white chocolate. Fill cup halfway with the hot tea and then pour the white chocolate soy milk into the tea from up high so as to create a little foam.

I wasn't sure about this at first because I'm not crazy about sweet, flavored coffees and teas but this one hits the spot.

Of course, you could use plain milk rather than soy if you wanted too.

I'd like it to be the divinely decadent Vosges Bianca hot cocoa, but freshly brewed coffee is what's keeping me warm at the moment.

I wasn't sure if Chai counted as tea or not but since it is tea I put that. Anyway, thats what I've been mainly making although I am still perfecting the spice blend, and I am also experimenting with drinking chocolate----its pretty intense so its not an everyday kind of thing.

Definitely hot chocolate! It was 39 degrees in Orlando, FL this morning - not a common thing. We warmed up with home made hot chocolate.

Pregnancy means the lower-caffeine and no-alcohol options are the ones I'm choosing. Plus, all excuses for hot chocolate are good excuses.

Instant Russian Tea! Not very high brow, but very nostalgic. Tang, lemonade, tea & spices.
