We're not ones for elaborate breakfasts (which is why we've devoted quite a bit of space to grab-and-go recipes and things you can make ahead of time). This is even more true when the weather turns warm. We're not interested in oatmeal or even cooking a quick egg. But is cold cereal or yogurt the only cool alternative? What do you eat?
With berries being in season, yogurt with fruit is an easy option. And we do love cereal—simple ones like shredded wheat or more complicated granolas.
Cereal... yogurt... fruit... What else is there? Well, on a Monday morning, we'll frequently find ourselves nibbling on whatever's left over from a weekend barbecue (cold potato salad, especially if it has bacon in it, is a favorite). We think these popsicles make a good breakfast.
But things that require us to turn on the stove or oven—even toast—just doesn't sound good. What do you eat when it gets warm and muggy outside? Do you switch your routine? Any interesting ideas we might not have thought of?

A turkey sandwich. Who says you can eat lunch food in the morning?
This morning I ate a homemade bagel (my first attempt ever!) with cream cheese, topped with cucumbers, and a banana.
I also like cottage cheese with diced fresh tomatoes and some pepper.

can't* eat, of course!

Wow that picture just made me REALLY crave some cereal granola with fresh fruit and nuts!
I also had a homemade bagel (first attempt too :) with cream cheese for breakfast. But now I'm seriously contemplating making granola tonight...

Hard boiled eggs. Make it into egg salad and spread it on sliced bread (toasted or not). :)
Bowl of granola (or cereal) with fresh berries and cream or yogurt is definitely a favorite.
Oh, and iced brewed coffee.

A smoothie! Yogurt, cottage cheese, banana, berries, flax, honey - the best way to start a morning!

I second the mashed avocado on toast.

Gotta try the avocado on toast...
I go with yogurt (the Wegman's Super Yogurt Vanilla is real good) and some fruit with it.

I like lunch food for breakfast, too.
Pita bread with hummus and veggies (radishes, cucumber, sprouts)
Corn tortillas (nuked briefly) with pre-sauteed portobella mushrooms, avocado, shredded cabbage and salsa
Gardenburger with avocado and salsa
Hot pretzel "sandwich" with mustard, bitter greens and cheese or avocado

I second the smoothie - I generally make mine with frozen blueberries, mango, OJ, and soft silken tofu. Sweet, creamy, cold, and filling = yum!

I've been really into Kefir lately for breakfast on the go. High in protein, and probiotic! My next project is to make my own homemade blackberry kefir after my berries ripen in the yard!

I know you guys said no oatmeal but what about rolled oats soaked overnight? I've been eating this for breakfast.
Soak 1/3 cup oats and 1/4 cup granola in 1/2 cup milk overnight. In the morning, chop up some strawberries and half a banana.
sometimes, I'll add some walnuts. Right now, I have some raisins and apricots I plan to add.
I love how think and nutty it gets the longer it soaks. The idea is from the engine2 diet but less dense (and not vegan).

I've been eating a lot of hard boiled eggs, maybe a slice or too of toast (when it's not too hot out), a sliced apple (I like macintosh for their tartness), and some cubed cheddar cheese. I eat the apples and the cheese at the same time. So tasty!

My favorites are year round. Fried chicken or a wrap with egg, avocado, and bacon.
Neither is healthy so I really don't ever go that route.... so my favorite realistic warm weather breakfast?
A tasty cold cereal with vanilla soy milk.

Similar to gayatri:
1:1 ratio of quick-cook rolled oats to pressed apple juice (I've tried both WF brand and Quaker, and Quaker seem to work best). I use 1 cup oats and 1 cup juice.
Soak oats and juice overnight in an airtight container in the fridge.
In the morning, I scoop out a few big spoonfuls of the cold soaked oats. Add plain yogurt, a big pinch of flaxseed, a handful of raspberries, a handful of hazelnuts, and maybe a squeeze of honey.
Delish. And you can modify it to use any fruits, nuts, etc.

My everyday breakfast, year-round, is a bowl of plain yogurt (homemade, as of late! yay!), with ground flaxseed and cinnamon, with a side of Kashi GoLean for sprinkling in. Oh, and a banana. Boring, maybe, but I love it. I feel a bit lost without it.
On the weekends, though, I'm extremely partial to a quick scrambled egg with pesto, or mascarpone, or a ribbon of cured salmon. Or a toad-in-a-hole (cut hole in slice of bread, fry in pan with egg in hole, enjoy!). Eggs and yogurt, it doesn't get any better for me!
The avocado on toast sounds quite good, but for some reason, I don't know if I could ever adopt it into serious breakfast rotation. I'm kind of craving some avocado now, though!

sliced melon or papaya, hard boiled egg and some chacuterie, maybe a chunck of hawaiian sweet bread and iced coffee vietnamese style with sweetened condensed milk.
Or
1/2 an avacado with soy sauce in the middle, steamed (at room temp) purple okinawian (sp) sweet potato and a slice of custard pie or a cream puff with light chocolate custard in the middle and tea. This is what we would eat while visiting my grandparents in Hawaii. Oh how I miss Hawaii!

Lately when I've been in a rush on a hot morning, I grab a frozen chocolate dipped banana. You all like lunch for breakfast; I like DESSERT for breakfast!

A homemade fruit salad or I eat a grapefruit cut in half with sugar on top. Yum!

I eat at my desk in front of my computer so I feel so pedestrian compared to other posts but my warmer weather standard is plain yogurt with ground flaxseed and blueberries, strawberries or blackberries. If all out of berries, a banana is always available. The weekends is when I feel I can enjoy something more elaborate.

I do like smoothies but it's a pain in the butt to wash my blender (and I hate my immersion blender). For the past week and a half, my breakfast every weekday morning has been a creamy vanilla yogurt, fresh strawberries (although I added half a sliced banana today), and a sprinkling of brown sugar. Try it with the brown sugar, trust me.

Hmmm, I love reading what people eat for breakfast. So different. Lately we've been mixing vanilla yogurt w. cottage cheese (half and half) and having it with melon and berries. It's good.
I think hot coffee is good for breakfast whether it's cold or hot outside...

I second gayatri's comment about cold oatmeal. I love oatmeal so much I want to eat it year round. I soak it overnight in milk/water and then mix in raisins, fruit, honey, cinnamon, etc in the morning. A much healthier alternative to boxed cereal.
