Simple Storage: New Celeber Jars from Ikea

2008_08_11-ikeajars.jpgWe saw these jars over at AT:Chicago and zoomed right in. They're from the new Ikea catalog...

Ikea's kitchen department is right in line with the rest of the store — modern, simple, lots of stainless steel — but these caught our eye because they look like they'd fit with traditional decor, too.

We love the natural, acacia wood tops, and even the plain white porcelain looks warm and creamy. They have silicone sealing to keep the tops tight, and some have transparent windows in the lid, so you can see what's inside.

Of course, as with all things Ikea, it's best to be able to inspect them in person. We didn't see these on our most recent trip, but we're on the lookout now. They're just so pretty and unobtrusive all gathered together.

There are also an oil and vinegar set and a soy sauce pitcher. So far, nothing's available online, but you can get more info here:

Saw them in the flesh yesterday - the transparent tops are actually quite flimsy plastic. It was disappointing.

I saw them a few weeks ago, catching from a distance, but like most of ikea, they were disappointing upon closer inspection.

I have the jars (the other stuff just doesn't look as nice). The plastic is a little flimsy, but the ceramic and and the wood are both very nice. They are very organic modern, which is exactly what I was looking for in my kitchen.
