Good Product: 9-Bottle Bag

2008_5_27-Reisenthel.jpgWhat a great idea! Here's a sturdy nylon bag that has 9 individual compartments for transporting nine 1.5 liter bottles.

2008_5_27-Reisenthel2.jpgWe can see this being so useful for picnics, dinner parties, and wine shopping, to name a few. The handle creates good leverage, and with the weight distributed evenly, the bag is not difficult to carry while full.

• Get it at Conran Shop, $15.
• Also available at ReusableBags.com in another pattern. $14.95

This doesn't seem all that useful. How often are people going to need to carry a lot of 1.5 liter bottles around? Seems like an overly specialized product.

I bought a similar 'six-pack' bag at Trader Joe's and was thrilled to discover that it will hold all sorts of bottles and jars. I bring my own bags when grocery shopping, and it's a breeze to stuff it with everything from jars of jam to bottles of olive oil and vinegar. The best thing about it? It was only 99 cents! In fact I've been contemplating investing in a second one. : )

In worse news, 1.5 L bottles weigh 4-6 pounds each, meaning that a full bag will approach 50lbs. This goes way beyond what I'd consider convenient/possible.

wunami:
I'd say it's useful for anyone buying more than two bottles of wine or liquor at a time and not hopping directly into a car to transport them.
And xbklynh8r, how do you carry a case of wine? If I can schlep a case of wine several blocks down the street with my wussy, pathetic arms, certainly someone carrying a relatively equivalent amount of weight (larger bottles, but fewer) in a nice handled bag would have an easier time.

Or am I the only person in the world who buys a mixed case at a time to take advantage of the 10-15% discount most stores offer?

I own two of these and bought one for my mother-in-law. As a frequent purchaser of wine, these are wonderful. No more wine store cartons to break down, no more mesh wrappers on the bottles. These bags are very sturdy and can hold the nine bottles without clinking, and are much easier for me to handle than a box. I keep them in the car for impromptu shopping.

I love these bags, cannot recommend them highly enough. Also useful at the grocery store for anything bottled/jarred. No clinking, no breaking.

My local liquor store gives a sturdy six section bag free if you buy more than 2 bottles (I think that is the cut off - I got one with 2 or 3 bottles)

i can see using this if you're just transporting wine/liquor from store to car to destination. But what a back breaker!

I think a 6-bottle bag would be perfectly fine. You can get those at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.
