Q: My mom's birthday is coming up, and I wanted to make her an "adult" ice cream cake in the Dairy Queen style — all ice cream, no cake.
I was hoping for some good ice cream combination ideas: I was thinking some combination of praline, almond, amaretto, and maybe some fresh peach ice cream as well — at least one or two of those? I know that's a lot of flavor options, so I could use some guidance. Thanks!

I have had great success with this basic formula from Eggs on Sunday:

The basic spring-form pan - cookie crumble - ganache top works well with pretty much any flavor of ice cream. I think my favorite ever was mint chocolate chip.
Here's another blog that used the same formula with beautiful results in a pistachio version:

Stephanie - I think your version is amazing. I personally would LOVE to make all those different ice creams and then turn them into a cake. I have made different ice creams with our professional ice cream maker, it has a built in freezer, but as life gets busier I find less time for this. So lately I bought three flavours from Ciao Bella Ice Creams (actually I bought sorbettos) It is hands down the BEST ice cream in the market - try it once and if you have a palette for delicate flavours you won't go back to anything else. So anyway, I bought Mango, Passion Fruit and Rasberry sorbettos, layered them in a mold, red in middle and everyone LOVED it. So go to your local WF and see if you find the flvours you mentioned and give it a go - mom will love it.
