Hollywood farmers' market shoppers are pretty spoiled – strawberries always seem to be in season, heirloom tomatoes and corn linger through the winter, and one never has to do without avocados. But look carefully, and taste deeply, and it is possible to find real seasons in La-La Land. Some blessings, like fava beans and snap peas, do have a limited run. Other produce that's seemingly available year-round still tastes sweeter or more complex during certain months. Here are some of the market goods enchanting us right now...

Yesterday was so lovely at the market. I am currently enjoying some giant, fragrant strawberries. Shoulda picked up some sugar snap peas. I will next time I go.

I LOVE those Ojai Pixie tangerines (top photo). I found them at Trader Joe's a couple weeks ago. They are very sweet but still tangy. Better than most desserts!

i braved dangerous wind conditions to make my way down to the farmers' mkt at Prospect Park this weekend, just b/c if it was going to be the 1st weekend with asparagus, i didn't want to miss it! alas, no asparagus yet, so i had to settle for another batch of leeks and potatoes.
