It's not been a good week for PepsiCo branding. First, an alleged design brief for their new logo leaks, to great amusement at the overwrought language and hype. And now they're rolling back their Tropicana brand's recent redesign, too.

The new (now discontinued) Tropicana packages never show up around here, though the cartons did get the caps shaped like oranges. Just another Canada vs. US difference?

i have zero sympathy for tropicana. while they were fussing over carton design they laid off 40 workers at their sw florida plant and will lay off another 50-60 next month. i live about 10 miles away from the plant and this story tastes like karmic justice to me.

I was among the people who hated the Tropicana redesign. (I can't remember whether I e-mailed them about it or not, though.) It really did make it much harder to tell the difference among all their million-and-a-half varieties, including the one that's not all real juice.

Sorry to interupt all the Tropicana discussion here, but that tea infuser is great. Too funny. The bird feeder is also cute, although I'm not sure how practical it is.

I find it hilarious that the buying public just sits idly by and passively accepts smaller and smaller packaging without so much as a peep, but get all up in arms and riot in the streets because of a style re-design on an orange juice carton.
Sheep deserve what they get.

Cupajo, perhaps you've not yet discovered The Consumerist. Go rail about companies' "shrink ray" packaging there. Baaaa.

I loved the Tropicana redesign. Of course, I don't buy any of their products, so maybe their redesign only served to repel and upset actual buyers while charming and impressing people who don't buy anything Tropicana...

I'm going to save the orange cap.
