Soup of the Day: Creamy Garlic (Knoblauchcremesuppe)

2009_02_10-Soup.jpgKnoblauchcremesuppe! Say that eight times fast. It's actually a very simple thing, and it's quite deserving of our soup of the day. Creamy garlic soup, an Austrian favorite.

This soup is so simple and easy: just some onion and garlic, a little flour and a little milk. Toasted bread croutons and ta-da! Dinner. Sweet and simple.

Thank you, God, for soup made out of garlic! Now I can dip my garlic bread into garlic soup and be happy all the time!

Wow, Chuck Knoblauch's (former baseball player) name literally translates as Chuck "Garlic"? One wonders how a family gets stuck with that sobriquet. The soup sounds incredibly easy, and will probably keep vampires and others at bay (unless they have a serving).

Do the measurements in this refer to liters? So that where it reads 1/4 l does that mean 1/4 liter?

@ Pixie,

yes, that should read ass 1/4 L, also known as 1 cup, 250mL, etc.

As a general rule, German recipes measure liquid in mL, or cL (centiliters), but they're also fond of their liters.

Thanks kaitlin. Just to be clear, you mean 1/4 L = 1 cup? (I know I can look that up myself...)
