We discovered this Hummingbird Cake with the decorative pineapple flowers at blog Axis of Ævil. She explains that the pineapple flowers were discovered via Martha Stewart, and that even though they are time-consuming, they are quite easy.
Basically, you dry out fresh pineapple slices in the oven. When they are very dry, you can cut the slices into flower shapes.

I love this idea! I'm going to make them or sure - can you imagine them on top of a coconut cupcake?

SoSue, I'm guessing the centers are the core of the pineapple.
This is darling and it makes me want to go bake a cake right now!
