Do you know what a slice is? It's not a piece, or a slab, or a chunk. A slice is much more than that.

A slice is another name for a bar cookie, usually baked in layers. You often see slice desserts in Australia and Canada. But as appealing as most slices are, we haven't yet seen one quite like this: Chocolate Caramel Slice from the weblog Baked.
It has a firm coconut base, a buttery sweet middle, a caramel filling, and a delicately crunchy chocolate topping. Did we ever mention that chocolate plus caramel is irresistible?
Oh boy does that look good. You had to mention the coconut base, didn't you? I'm half afraid to go check out the recipe, but I'll probably only be able to hold out for another - that's it! I'm gone! : )

My roomie and I started making those after a trip to the UK. No coconut base though, just a graham type one.

Choc caramel slice is the FOOD OF THE GODS.
I'm gobsmacked that it's not well-known in the States.
