We are not sure whether to laugh or be impressed at PartSelect's recipe for Dishwasher Lasagna. They say that if your oven has taken an "unexpected vacation" you may have another appliance that will help you cook dinner - all you need are some fresh lasagna noodles, aluminum foil, and a 2-hour wash cycle. They even give wine pairing suggestions! (via yumsugar)

I can't imagine the mind that, during an oven vacation, considers the dishwasher a viable alternative. I would have gotten take-out long before figuring this sort of thing out!

Many years ago my friend told me she made grilled cheese sandwiches with her toaster. I later learned an iron was also used when the toaster (suddenly) took an epected vacation!
As for the above...
I wonder what they were using there oven for before it decided to pack n leave.

I've heard of using the dishwasher to poach salmon, though that seems like overkill. I've never had a dishwasher that had a 2-hour wash cycle. Wouldn't that be a tremendous waste of water? Aren't there other appliances that can cook dinner -- for instance, a microwave or toaster oven? A barbeque grill?

Ugh, gross. Have any of you ever SMELLED the steam that comes out of the dishwasher after the dishes are done? The water makes its way up my sink and back down in and while I doubt there is some kind of water cycle in the "Lasagna" setting, I couldn't imagine anything being cooked in there could be very sanitary. At first I thought it was something cute, like "Lasagna" dishes are the most difficult to get clean so a dishwasher with a setting for "Lasagna" means that its going to go double duty to get those dishes clean without scrubbing. I can't imagine it's very common to be in a position where you have a bunch of people waiting for food and your oven flunks out. This is just very, very stupid to me.

People who do this sort of thing are the types that figure out how to wash and reuse their dental floss. And save $4.98 a year!!! Yeah...great tip...thanks.

Absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. And ridiculous and stupid besides.

This "cooking method" is funny in a very disgusting kinda way. It might be kind of neat as a joke, but to actually eat using the dishwasher is just wrong...

This must be a joke!

I've never seen a washer with a 2 hour cycle either.

Ha! This is funny! My oven works perfectly but I will still try this recipe, just out of curiosity. My dishwasher is made by a Russian company and I have to tell you that it has a two hours cycle. Never tried it though. I am scared this experiment would break it. I might not be able to repair it anymore. I don’t know if I can find to buy the right appliance parts for this dishwasher.
