Here's a weird "green" dilemma for you: have you accumulated too many canvas grocery totes?

• Spicy heirloom-bean chili at Domino.

• Weird Green Dilemma: Too Many Reusable Bags ... - Do you have too many grocery bags? At Re-Nest.
Yes. But I've also found that my reusable bags (Whole Foods, Stop&Shop, etc.) are lasting about 1 year before they start to fall apart so it'll be time to get new ones anyways.

I keep forgetting them at home, so I have keep buying new ones because I don't want the plastic bags... Hopefully, I will end up learning to bring the bags from home.

Ha! I was wondering when people were going to start realising that if you buy all of those canvas grocery bags and don't use them, they're a waste, too! But before you think I"m all high and mighty, I have one or two too many, as well.

I have a few too many, though I haven't bought any. They're like T-Shirts; they've just accumulated in my house.

Yes, I have too many to count. I am good about using them at the farmers market and at my weekly grocery trips to Trader Joes and Raleys but dont' think of bringing them into Target, the drugstore, etc..

I have a couple in my backpack which is with me almost all the time. I have a couple at home which are used for taking things to the building's laundry room (One bag = one load, which is kind of awesome). So there isn't really a surplus.
If I had extras, I'd just give them to my friends and coworkers. I guess you'd run into problems if all your friends and coworkers are greenies. Time to expand the friend pool!
I'd actually like to see a study on a company that sells reusable bags at the register looking at the amount of plastic grocery bag usage before and after they started selling reusable bags. Target would be a good example.

Ah, found one article that says that plastic bag usage was down 40% in Austin late last year - this from companies including Target and Walmart.
So even if people are buying too many bags, things are still getting better.
