I tried a version of the caramelized onion dip last year---while tasty it ended up tasting sweet to me----on the rare every five or so year occasion I indulge in such things the packet is still my top choice.

Habernero is spelled without an ñ---plain n is used. It means "from Havana". I used to make this same mistake until someone corrected me. The ñ is, however, used in jalapeño.

I'm a huge fan of caramelized onions. (Here's my version: http://danamccauley.wordpress.com/2008/01/28/onions-offer-layers-of-possibility/ )

I use them in dips (my fav is like this one but without the sour cream and with Brie cheese. I heat it up and serve as a molten tangle. Delish!

I also use them to make a quick pizza style appetizer:

and, of course, they are essential for French onion soup. So good.
