Decorate Your Home with Sausage Rugs?

A friend sent us a link to these sausage-themed rugs from the German company Das rote Paket a few days ago, and we couldn't quite believe our eyes. We still can't. The thing is, we kind of love them. Would you put a sausage rug in your home?

This is definitely one of the more high-quality displays of meat love we've seen in a long time. The rugs are made of 100% New Zealand wool with a 14 mm pile, and come in bierschinken, blutwurst, mortadella, and salami designs. The colors are actually really lush and gorgeous, we think. If you didn't tell anyone, many of these rug designs could pass for abstract art!

But we'd have to tell guests, right? How could you have a sausage rug in your house and keep it a secret?

When I first saw these, I thought they were pizza rugs. I really didn't think of sausage. So, maybe it wouldn't to guests.

I would definitely laugh...in an uncomfortable way...if someone showed me their sausage rug.

I dunno about the others, but I kinda like the salami rug...the pattern is just random enough to look like a fairly normal rug until you'd point out what it is supposed to be. Doesn't hurt that I like salami too.

Had you not said "sausage" I never would have made that connection. They just look like red/pink abstract rugs to me. Do I love them? Not really. But not because of any sausage connotation.

HST, I guess I should start appreciating sausage for its artistic content...
