eBay Scavenger: Antique Seltzer Bottles

2007_12_04-SeltzerEbay.jpgVintage seltzer bottles were on our Christmas list this year. The shapes are so interesting, and they are often engraved with the names of long-defunct bottling plants or seltzer delivery companies.

The one on the left is a cobalt blue Florida seltzer bottle, currently going for $24.95 and ending December 5. On the right is a green New York bottle for $5 and ending December 8.

Also check out these two clear bottles for $.99. More eBay picks after the jump.

question about vintage seltzer bottles. has anyone figured out how to open them so that you can actually use them? i bought one this summer, but you have to have a special key to get the top off...anyone know where to get one of those?
thanks!

yes-- I have the same/similar question. I bought 3 beautiful blue/green bottles but they still have some water in them. ?!? They no longer have any carbonation to squirt it out and they'd look better emptied, I think. How do I open them ? Thanks !!
