Times Top 5: Grilled Sausage and Braised Green Beans
From the NY Times Dining Section 08.13.08

2008_08_13-Times.jpgWhat your favorite bits of the New York Times dining section yesterday? Our favorite was hands-down easy to pick...

  1. Melissa Clark's slow-cooked green beans
  2. We adore green beans that have been slow-cooked; we have a similar Greek-style recipe here. We can hardly wait to try Melissa's version! It doesn't hurt that grilled sausages are also involved.

  3. Chapati on the grill
  4. This was a close runner-up for our favorite. Mark Bittman shows how to cook the classic Indian chapati bread on a grill.

  5. Good coffee roasting in Brooklyn
  6. Stumptown Coffee Roasters is coming to New York! Good news for all who love fresh-roasted beans.

  7. Succotash!
  8. Fresh lima beans are in season.

  9. George Washington...distiller?
  10. The Founding Father's distillery has been reconstructed and reopened.

What were your favorite parts of the Times dining section?

I made the chapatis last night to go with some lemon grilled chicken, hummus, and a greek salad. Basically I used the chapati to replace pita just to try the recipe and because it was so fast. They turned out really well.

Those green beans are to die for. I made them last night and plan to make them again.

The Melissa Clark braised beans recipe is amazing! I've made it twice already ... make sure you try it!
