We just have to direct you to Florence Fabricant's picks in the New York Times dining section this week. She has some great finds. Our favorite was this mortar and pestle from Suvir Saran's American Masala collection for Wade Ceramics.
The new line was created by Saran and partner Charlie Burd who have drawn inspiration from the colors, textures and traditions of Saran's native India. We hear this made-in-England mortar and pestle has wider base to prevent spices and other ingredients from flying out of the mortar when grinding. The design on the pestle is inspired by heirloom Indian quilts.
We really like this mortar and pestle; it looks better than the one we have. What do you think? We hear that there will be ceramic knives added to the line in May and a spice grinder this fall. Links to more of Fabricant's picks, below the jump...
