Look! Play With Your Food!

2008_05_13-FoodArt.jpgHave you seen this yet? The New York Times Dining Section has a whole piece on knife skills, vegetable carving, and food art. These knife skills are way out of our league...

2008_05_13-FoodArt2.jpgDo you do any fancy cutting or carving? The extent of our food art capabilities extends to strawberry fans and that's about it.

Some of these creations are fantastically over the top, but we think it might be fun to learn how to create a radish rose or two.

How sweet is that bear? Am I crazy for adoring it so? Utterly simple but so full of expression. I love it.

When food is this cute/ pretty my hoarding nature doesn't want to eat it up, but my creative nature causes me to make food into animals sometimes. A sweet potato with a long tail needed some beady raisin eyes and shiny raisin ears to be delivered on a supper tray to my daughter, who mostly enjoyed shrieking about it.
