In Oregon The Oregonian is always packed with helpful tips and information. They have a detailed series on mushrooms - including foraging and cooking tips. They have some tips on using mushrooms in every menu. They also have tips on preserving herbs all winter. Great recipe for pan herb sauce for roast chicken, too!

In Boston there's a story on Tom Parker Bowles' quest to eat dangerously. They also give wine critics 50 bottles under $12 and tell them to have a Plonkapalooza. They come up with some real deals!

In recipes: Spicy Chicken Stew and Pumpkin Gingerbread stand out.

In Utah the Salt Lake Tribune talks about tricky yet delectable soup dumplings from Taiwan - xiaolongbao. They also say to give Chianti another chance, and they offer homey recipes like Butterfinger brownies and broccoli mash with horseradish.

Plus (we could not make this up), in homage to the classic food of Utah, they are sponsoring a Jell-O Haiku Contest.
