Here's a taste-test of newspaper food sections around the country this week. What kind of food is your local paper writing about?

In California the San Francisco Chronicle is talking about spring cupboard cleaning, with a very helpful look at standard cupboard items' shelf lives. They're also talking about tamari, chicken & dumplings, and something sweet for Passover.

In Illinois the Chicago Tribune is also looking at Passover, with ideas for personalizing the seder, and a story about Passover food that melds Italian and Jewish experience. They also talk about sharpening your knives and early spring food.

In Dallas, Texas, there's a story on easier ways to roast peppers, along with a trick to get your hard-boiled egg yolks perfectly centered. They also cover early sweet onions, sardines, and bitter greens for Passover.

The Boston Globe has an interesting story on Chinese-Indian food with a recipe for Cauliflower Fritters. They also talk about Sephardic Passover traditions, chickpea soup, and Easter baking, with a recipe for Ricotta Cheesecake.

Also in the Chicago Tribune, wine columnist Bill Daley offers up kosher Chiantis [in keeping with the Italian Passover theme], a great way to avoid the traditional syrupy sweet kosher wines. And Wolfgang Puck brings the dessert, in the form of a recipe for almond macaroons.
