Last Days of Gourmet: In Pictures

2009-11-10-Gourmet.jpgWe hope you're not feeling depressed this Tuesday morning. If you are, this set of photos from the last days at the Gourmet offices may put you over the edge. While we found them to be utterly melancholy, they are also a fascinating peek into the place where so much wonderful food media was created.

2009-11-10-Gourmet2.jpgThis one-page website of photos was created by Kevin DeMaria, an associate art director at Gourmet for the past 8 years. He says that it was difficult to document the quotidian spaces of the Gourmet headquarters, but he did it to pay tribute to the people he worked with and the magazine he loved.

Go take a look - it's a last sneak peek into the spaces where some of our favorite food images and recipes were created.

We passed this link around our office last week. How does one pack up nearly 70 years of ideas?

Funny though, how offices everywhere look pretty much the same nowadays... could have been somewhere I have worked.

I hope there is a backlash against Condé Nast for this misguided decision.

Please sign the petition to have Gourmet Magazine Saved. There are also two groups on Facebook for the cause.

Very sad! what a shocker, end of an era for sure.

I was trying to read the story and my screen kept scrolling down from the expanding ad at the top of the screen, is it possible to have a less intrusive ad?

Just wondering and hoping...good day to all

Damn those are just sad pictures, no matter how attached to the magazine you were.
