Jennifer Garner Has Wheat Germ in Her Refrigerator
Bon Appétit

2009_05_07-garner.jpgBon Appétit does an occasional Q&A with actors about their food habits, and the latest is with Jennifer Garner.

We know Garner is one celebrity whose talk about food and cooking isn't just lip service. Well, OK, we don't know for sure; we don't visit her kitchen. But she's on Martha Stewart's show fairly frequently, always armed with specific baking questions for Martha and stories about cooking for her family. This does not seem like a woman who has a personal chef doing the dirty work for her.

So, what's in her refrigerator besides toasted wheat germ? A few other surprises...

There's also yeast and low-fat buttermilk. Hm. So Garner is a bread baker? A pancake maker?

She also notes that she has a cabinet full of chocolate, and that her favorite snack is cheese, crackers, and an apple (which sounds a lot like what President Obama eats).

Our favorite tidbit is that she usually makes dinner from cookbooks by Sara Foster or Giada De Laurentiis. Many of the tabloid shots we see of Garner show her shopping at the farmers' market, so it's not surprising that she'd be making simple, seasonal, comforting dinners at home.

Normally I wouldn't comment on something like this but am I the only one who is thinking "who cares?"?

I agree, siera, that my fridge is also far more interesting. I do love a banana dipped in wheat germ as a snack, though. Yum!

Isn't this the sort of post that got Apartment Therapy in trouble with the New York Times? This is a full summary of the interview that is linked to as well as a mirror of the accompanying graphic.

I am so sick of celebrities working so hard to tell us and show us that they are just like us. They are not just like us. I don't care what's in her refrigerator; when she has to worry about affording to put anything in the refrigerator, then I'll pay attention.

Why would it be assumed that anyone would give a flip about what is in Jennifer Garner's refrigerator? What can we next look forward to, appetizer ideas from Nicole Richie?

Ha ha! I'm so glad I'm not the only one thinking "why does it matter what she has in her fridge?!" Who cares! Yay, she eats healthy...lots of us do. Because we know what cookbook she uses, I'm sure we'll all go out and purchase it first thing. Whatever. You can get healthy recipes from websites - you don't even need books anymore.

When a celebrity wants to keep food in MY fridge...THEN I'll be interested, heh.
