Take a look at these peaches! Are ripe, sweet peaches in season already? Well, not exactly, but these look just as good...

These are actually peach sandwich cookies (breskvice), a traditional Yugoslavian recipe. Medena of Cafe Chocolada says that she has tried many different versions of these cookies — some from Croatian sources, and some from friends. This particular batch was from a friend's recipe, and you can find it here:

You can also see more about how to make the cookies at her original post. The cookies are baked and then dipped in colored milk and sugar to make them look like peaches. They're filled with either Nutella or a combination of peach jam and cookie crumbs. Delicious!!

They look pretty yummy, but cut in half, I can see certain friends having some snide comments, which I will refrain from.
THey do look pretty peachy though!

The Amana ad is making me angry for the second day in a row.

Gosh, they look adorable. So pretty. I doubt they'd turn out half as pretty if I tried my hand at them, I've got a bit of a rep for failing horribly at making pretty baked goods, but they sound tasty, too. My boyfriend hates peaches for some unfathomable reason, but I don't know if his hatred extends towards the facsimile of a peach. If these aren't peach FLAVOURED, I could probably get him interested. Maybe if I cut them in half and made some snide comments ;)

Another "Boo!" vote for the Amana ad. The click parameters are way, way off.

I grew up on these cookies but of course, we called them bum cookies ;) Anyways, the traditional filling for these (which can also be found on Cafe Chocolada's sight) are the shelled cookie crumbs, ground walnuts, jam, and alcohol (usually rum). Essentially, you can make them any flavour you want.

gorgeous!
it says to dip them in milk with food coloring to color them then place them in a baggie overnight to soften - any concerns with the milk dip and being left out at room temperature?
