The honey debate is ridiculous, and only serves to marginalize vegans further. I consider myself vegan, but I do eat honey. My brother keeps bees and I have watched him harvest honey. He probably kills less bees in a year than the number of insects you would kill during a drive in your car on a summer's night. Also, he leaves more than enough honey for the bees to live through the winter. The practices are not uncommon for smaller operations because they can't afford to lose any hives. It is impossible to live a completely pure vegan life, and the approach should be to minimize suffering as much as possible. Cane sugar is harvested at the expense of a lot of human suffering, and that should not be overlooked either.

The labels are tongue in cheek, cute. I wish they were on Etsy, I might buy some (rather than from a proprietary website). The people I would give them to would find them very appropriate to my sense of humor.
