5 Eclectic (Yet Coordinated) Spice Jar Sets
Best Kitchen Basics

Some of us have spice jar sets, where all the jars match and fit into their own custom container. And some of us (me) enjoy a jumble of mismatched jars and containers. When I saw these new spice jars from Anthropologie, I knew I'd add one or two to my collection. Or maybe I should get No. 9? Read on for a few more spice jar favorites.

1 Anthropologie's Digit Spice Jar, $5 each. I'm not sure I would want all nine jars on my shelf, but a few here and there would be nice.

2 Jamie Oliver's Tiny Kilner Jar, approximately $3.38 each. These sweet little jars are available with green or cream colored lids, too. You'll have to order then from England, but that's half the fun!

3 Weck Jars are made for canning, but their smaller versions make great spice jars. Heath Ceramics, $27.00 for 6 one-cup jars, carries a few sizes or you can order directly from Weck. $18.70 for 12 tiny jars.

4 IKEA's new TRIPP storage tins have a spice-sized box. $2.99 for all three sizes.

5 IKEA also has a classic white ceramic jar. $7.99 for two.

I found the same spice jars as Jamie Oliver's at our Dollar store, they're equally adorable. Somehow, I imagine ordering from England for thrice the price is not as fun as it sounds.

Food Monster:
Scoring bargain spice jars at your local dollar store is definitely more fun than paying full price...so, where did you say that Dollar store is again?

I preferred anthro's spice jars like those that were just in a rainbow of colors, without numbers. however, they're really only useful for spices you use a lot of (and thus replenish) fairly often, as they are not air tight.

I like the Jamie Oliver jars, and I am a big Weck fan...but I have been using Bonne Maman jars for spices. Finish the delicious jam, and that little jar with the gingham top begs to be NOT thrown away or tossed into the recycling bin. I've got tons of them.

Agree with bewarethebaobabs. I use exactly one of those Anthropologie jars for Kosher salt, which I go through like water, and I love it, but you have to be really careful with the cork stopper to keep moisture out. I wouldn't dare use it with something that'd really suffer if it got damp.

There was a post on here maybe a year ago about a woman who made a spice rack out of metal tins and an old shallow drawer that printers use to store their letters in. It was SO cute I got the same 40z ( I think) metal containers (so my spices dont get light on them and its fairly airtight) and instead of buying an old letter tray, I make one out of wood I stained a dark brown. Hold 75 spices...its too small!!! I need a bigger one with all I have, but I added larger spots on the end to store cobalt blue and amber dropper bottles that I bought to keep my extracts in. Everybody loves it when they see it.
