New Favorite Combination: Spaghetti and Figs

2008_10_07-spaghetti.jpg2008_10_07-figs.jpgA few weeks ago, we had a dish at the restaurant Sfoglia in New York that was one of the best things we've eaten in a while. It was so Fall, so simple, and (hooray) so readily found on the Internet. Get the recipe below...

On the menu, it was simply spaghetti with figs. But when we tasted it, we realized its most transcendent ingredient may be brown butter. Lots and lots of it. There were also some ground hazelnuts and, we thought, a hint of sugar—although the recipe we found doesn't call for it.

Martha Stewart had Sfoglia's chef, Ron Suhanosky, on her show to prepare the dish, and you can get the recipe here:

The sweet, meaty figs and pasta all covered in slippery, luscious butter was so, so delicious. Figs are almost out of season, and this recipe is so easy... It's on the short list for dinner very soon.

I was just at Sfoglia last night and it was the first thing I spotted on the menu. Delicious.

Oh this is so, so tempting. I wish I had a good source for figs, though...they're often in such bad shape in NY. Has anyone spotted good ones?

I made this last night and it was delicious. I quartered the recipe, which made two nice sized portions, and used about twice as many figs. Perfect for a cold night.
