Just had a cooking disaster- attempted a baked risotto. Followed all the instructions to the letter and after the 45 minutes it said to bake all I ended up with is raw rice and pumpkin in a heated stock. Had cereal for dinner instead. Such disasters devastate me.

I am having a picnic dinner in my yard tonight and have no idea what I am cooking. I think I am most excited to decorate the yard. Am leaning toward pesto pizzas with nuts, grilled veggies, and salad (a vegetarian crowd).

I think that today I'm going to attempt grilled pizza. Whether it's grilled indoors or out is something to be determined by how lazy I feel when the time comes.

@bkk, don't be devestated! It's hardly your fault. I hate that sort of thing, too (which is why I stopped roasting chickens. I can't do it right to save my life)

Having friends for dinner again tonight. This is getting to be a regular Saturday night thing... We are making tortellini, bread sticks, a green salad and watermelon granita for dessert. I may also try baking the zucchini cookies in this months Everyday Food.

Tomorrow another batch of applesauce is planned.

I'm having a very AT:The Kitchn weekend. Tonight are the ricotta pancakes you posted about yesterday, with yellow cherry tomatoes and butter lettuce from the farmers market and tomorrow I too am making those white beans simmered in tomato sauce.

We're grilling pork chops tomorrow night, but those beans will make the perfect "I don't want to cook on Monday" dinner, paired with some bread I have rising as I type (I received the _Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day_ book. It's great for taking the intimidation factor out of bread baking and while I find the bread merely "fine" my husband loves it).

The nights are getting chillier. I'm making oxtail ragu with semolina gnocchi for dinner tonight. Bigtime comfort food.

Saturday--stir fry and a pirate ship cake for Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Sunday--days like this were made for cheap, carryout pizza picked up on the way home.

I whipped up a couple of Serious Eats recipes this weekend (they were both great) along with my first loaf of banana bread!

First, Quick Tortilla Soup (with a few minor tweaks)
