Dripping juicy, sweet and black, red and purple, small and fragrant — plums are one of our favorite things about late summer. They're cheap and sweet, and they're wonderful to eat out of hand. But they also have real potential in the kitchen. Here are a few favorites from the archives, plus some resources on plums themselves.

I love this Catalonian Pork Chops with Plums recipe: http://www.clovesandcream.com/2009/05/catalonian-pork-chops-plums.html. Cinnamon, red wine reduction & plums give the chops a rich, spicy body. Added bonus: it takes less than 30 minutes kitchen to table!

How about something savory? Combine plums and Gorgonzola to make pizza?? It might sound a bit odd, but trust me, it's great.

Just drop a spoonful of good plain yogurt over a sliced plum and drizzle the whole thing with balsamic vinegar. Viola.
Add some freshly-ground black pepper if you're feeling frisky. It's spectacular.
