We were just reminded that today is National Pie Day, and since we are still trying to find the perfect chocolate pie we rounded up a few recipes on our must-try list.
From left, Chocolate Cream Pie at Leite's Culinaria. This is one of those ultra-tested recipes from America's Test Kitchen and we're keen to check it out. We're looking for that light, silky texture. Next up: Dark Chocolate And Orange Tart With Toasted Almonds and Bittersweet Chocolate Pudding Pie With Creme Fraiche Topping, both from Epicurious. The second one sounds like an extra helping of chocolate heaven.

Chocolate Cream Pie from America's Test Kitchen is by far the best recipe I've come across. So far, I've made four c.c. pie since Thanksgiving and it's been a hit every single time. It's never failed to elicit the greatest of all compliments, 'You must give me the recipe.' And it's super easy to bake. It has a really deep chocolate flavor without being sugary sweet. Next time, I'm thinking of adding Grand Marnier or Frambois to give it extra something. Not that it needs it.

the best cake i've ever had was about 20 years ago - a chocolate grand marnier cheesecake. and i don't like sweets.

It's not exactly pie, I don't think, but at Marlow and Sons they have an amazing chocolate-caramel tart with sea salt sprinkled on top!

This Dark Chocolate and Orange Tart with Almonds recipe is a fantastic. I have made it several times, with terrific results and many raves. It is worthwhile to make it a little ahead of serving (a day) to allow for the orange flavor to really develop in the chocolate.
