The Saveur 100

2006_01_20saveurFeb06.jpgWe just love a top 100 list (think, ten times a top ten!) and the February issue of Saveur magazine is out with their top 100 picks for food, drink, people, places and things (and a few restaurants too).

From new products like New Zealand's Pohutukawa Honey and classics like the good ol' Mason Jar, to resources we already love like Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks in the West Village to newer ones like FallenFruit.org, and recipes like Tabla's Goan Avocado Salad, and Gazdag Ember Batyui (huh?), a Hungarian specialty meaning "rich man's purses" filled with paprika chicken.

bonnie slotnick, how do i love thee? let me count the ways
you found me a copy of raymond sokolov's "fading feasts"
you've helped expand my collection of cookbooks from the shakers, quakers and other bizzaro religious sects
you've helped my boyfriend realise that my collection of cookbooks could be oh so very much worse (and larger) and that cookbooks are just recipes, but a little glimpse of history
you reconnected me to riding horses

yes, bonnie, you unequivocally RULE! (and i didn't need saveur to remind me of that!)
