oh my gosh, oh my gosh oh my GOSH!
the silver spoon just arrived on my desk (thank you santa (aka me!!))
i had no idea it was SO HUGE and SO EXTENSIVE!!!
i cannot WAIT to dig into the vegetable section, first stop i think just has to be white cabbage salad
there has been such a cabbage meme floating around on the blogosphere this week
i can post a little synopsis after the weekend
this is my mission!!!
how EXCITING!
Ann,
We welcome your review of The Silver Spoon. I've had a look, but haven't cooked from it yet. Please: cook, record, take photos, send in.
(and have you voted for the Bloggies yet?!)
Cheers!
Is that uber-chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten on the bottom right?!
SUCH a cutie he is!
ohhhh, p(too) time for a new crush in the kitchen!
that is NOT JgV, it is in fact the current hot shot chef in the beltway Jose Andres
try and catch him on the pbs segment with mark bittman
if he's your type, he's also funny, and he can cook!
what a catch!!!!
I have really enjoyed Everyday Italian by Giada De Laurentis. I have cooked 10 recipes from it and each one has turned out great! They are easy, straightforward, quick and call for ingredients that are easy to find. This is my absolute favorite new cookbook.
I keep meaning to add my favorite cookbook to the list - "Lidia's Italian American Kitchen" by (of course...) Lidia Bastianich!
It's a great book, with easy to follow recipes annotated with stories and pictures. And if, like me, you once had an Italian grandmother who cooked you amazing meals, this book will make that all seem possible again!
So many Italians, so many Food Network cooks and no mention of the genius Mario Batali and "Molto Italiano"? Oh god I melt at his show and his cookbook. Cook with what you have but the Batali touch always makes it freaking amazing. I'm ADDICTED to Gnocci alla Romana, easy semolina dumplings dredged in cheese. Simplicity.
Molto Italiano and it's superior the Silver Spoon have to be on the Italian list.
ann--
Great tip on kitchen hotties!!! ;)
Still holding out for Michael Chiarello. But, um, a little butcher.
Although the picture Kathryn paints of her generous food and wine savvy pal Luigi grows more appetizing each day... :)
WHile the new Bittman and Batali, my most consistent cookbook is the mini Rick Bayless' Cooking with Salsas. EVERYTHING I've made with these Mexican recipes/salsa has gotten rave reviews and the ingrdients are readdily available
