New Aussie Food Blog

2006_02_24-food-for-all.jpgA reader from Australia has written in and asked us American readers to have a look at food for all..., her new blog.

Pippa Campbell started out as a chef, studied anthropology and so naturally became very interested in the food in other cultures and the ritual of production and consumption that accompany it. She started exploring traditional food making practices such as breadmaking, cheesemaking and winemaking and now makes cheese, works in a restaurant, and runs Grabaspoon, which is an Australian-based directory of food-happenings, plus this new blog.

Pippa writes "I have noticed that in America you seem to have a great community of foodies and bloggers alike, we are really lacking that in Australia." So let's have a look and see what's happening Down Under, and send our passion for food her way.

i hate to differ with ms. pippa as i don't actually reside in australia, but from what i can tell from here, there is a rather sizeable blogging community in australia--enough that there are rather extensive australian blog awards nominees anyway--and an exceptional food blogging group as well (if html code doesn't work, the whole list is on tomatom.com). also, the sydney food bloggers seem to be a rather social lot, organizing events like the sydney sandwich social, so they can meet in person. it seems to me that the food blogging community in australia is more about quality than quantity; i can't see what is lacking amongst them.
