About to toss an old dented muffin tin in the Goodwill box, we changed our minds. Maybe we won't be using it to bake any more muffins, but we can definitely give it a second life as a drawer organizer!

This shallow pan fits perfectly in the drawer next to our stove. We stash our little bags of bulk spices in the cups, along with an assortment of other kitchen odds and ends: toothpicks, bits of twine, twist-ties, wine corks, bottles of food coloring, and so on. This would also be a great way to organize loose-leaf teas!
Since the whole tray lifts up so easily, underneath we store a few appliance manuals, papers we don't want to lose, and a few take-out menus.
What other ways could we re-use this muffin tin?

I've done this with extra loaf tins, it's pretty as well as useful.

At the suggestion of my vet, I feed our dog out of an ol' muffin tin, just like that one! She still gobbles her food, but she has to work a little harder to do so.

I would not like looking at this dirty muffin tin every day in my drawer.

It's not dirty per se!
I think it's a good idea! :)

If looking at it grossed you out, I bet you could cover the spaces between the muffin wells with contact paper or something cute.

I love this idea and if I had an older muffin tin that I didn't use on a regular basis, I'd probably do this. If nothing else, I'll have to keep an eye out for one at garage sales, thrift stores and the like. Thanks!

A little rust on a muffin tin is actually artsy patina, and makes it a valuable vintage antique.... at least according to Etsy and eBay. ;-)

I use one of those plastic organizer trays they sell for use in desk drawers to keep my small utensils in order. Kind of like a cutlery tray. The stuff I keep in drawers is the wrong shape for muffin tins.

Ok, I absolutely love the muffin tin idea, but I think I was impressed even MORE at the idea to lay your spices out in a drawer...you can see all the labels, they're easy to reach, there's just nothing bad about the idea. I love it!!

Yuck. It'd be fine if it was clean, but that would gross me out. Oven cleaner would take that buildup right off. Use it outside with gloves if you're worried about the chemicals.

Great use of a muffin tin. I use plastic containers that no longer have lids as little trays to hold small items like measuring spoons, corn cob holders, or other small kitchen items.

If this "patina" (thanks, Faith!) grosses you out, know that the microwavable muffin pans look pristine (and I use one of those for feeding my dog at a lake house).

I WOULD PAINT IT SO FAST! SOME BRIGHT AND HAPPY SPRAY PAINT WOULD DO THE TRICK!

My mom used to keep old muffin tins downstairs in her crafts room and when she had a bunch of buttons or beads to sort, they'd come out to help us keep our piles of notions separate--and to keep them out of the carpet.
