Organic clones? The supermarket aisles may be filled with products from cloned cows sooner than you think since the FDA stated in December that meat and milk from cloned animals are safe to eat and ready for a retail shelf-life.
With this new development, yet again the definition of organic may get pulled like taffy. Some biotech Dr. Frankensteins believe cloned animals raised organically should be able to receive an organic label.
But detractors like Margaret Mellon, the director of the food and environment program at the Union of Concerned Scientists, told the Washington Post recently, over my dead body. And so the debate begins as the FDA considers whether cloned meat and milk should be labeled made from clones.
Meanwhile, the USDA, which monitors whats considered organic, will have to figure out if organic and clone can be used in the same sentence. Sure sounds like an oxymoron to us.

All this fuss over genetic modification and cloning just seems so ignorant and privileged.
