Hitting the grill, alright.
Our new DeLonghi indoor grill, that is!
We *heart* being loft dwellers but really missed backyard BBQ-ing. The warehouse building we moved into is still a work in progress - the loft conversions are beautiful but the rest of it still pretty industrial. There's a scary old BBQ out on the loading dock that was way too sketchy to even consider.
The Delonghi was on sale WS so I grabbed it, and it's amazing. Looks fab and works great. It even has a little removable reservoir in the bottom for stuff like wood chips, herbs, wine or other flavorings.
It's not the same as a charcoal Weber, but close enough for us!!!!

I wish I could grill, but the apt. complex is completely redoing their landscaping and they pulled up the grills! grr
Instead, I pickled beets yesterday. I was all beeted out from the endless supply in my CSA box, so I tried canning for the first time ever.
I've got tentative plans to do a picnic at a park in a week or two with friends when the weather is nice and sunny.

I'm going to try to recreate a pear-sage sauce for gorgonzola ravioli that I had in a restaurant. My plan so far is to saute the pear slices and sage in olive oil. I haven't been able to find any similar recipes on the internet - anyone know of one or have suggestions about how to proceed?

I just picked up the June Food and Wine at the airport and came across a very nice piece featuring Sara Kate ! The recipes sound lovely, and I am so excited to give them a shot when I get back home. Well done!

Jenblossom and bird and beef,
Thanks! Just seeing that folks in the open thread picked up on the F&W piece. Are you going to join our 8-week Kitchen Cure?! We'll post a little something about it in the next few days.

Ooh, SK, I am so in love with the idea of a kitchen cure! I guess that my participation all depends on when it starts, as I am in Berlin for a while. The apartment that I am subletting is fantastic, btw. I am so jealous of the light that it gets. I will try to put up some pictures on flickr, if my recently dropped camera will cooperate.
