Does anyone have a sure fire recipe for a red wine reduction that can be served at dessert (on teh sweet side)? I'm trying to reproduce a dessert from one of my favorite restaurants tonight: Red Wine Prunes and Mascarpone. Thanks!
Jess, I have the recipe from Spuntino that was in the NYT. Let me know if that's what you're looking for.

This isn't exactly "holiday" food, but it is something I really need help with!!! Does anyone know of a good egg bagel recipe? Most of the recipes I have tried only include 2 eggs, which does not remind me of anything close to the egg bagels I remember as a child. Oooh, if only I lived closer to a Jewish bakery!

Here's my holiday advice... commit to learning to make some of your old traditional family recipes. It is such a wonderful way to connect to your childhood and to honor the generations that came before you. This year, I made pizzelles and frezine, which were two of the things I remember most from my childhood. My Italian grandmother would make these (pizzelles mostly at Christmas, but frezines all year 'round) and now that I can make them myself, I feel that I'm carrying on an important piece of my family history.

I just got finished spending the weekend decorating holiday cookies. I had a "decorating party" on friday but my guest showed little interest in decorating. As a result, I had plenty of extra cookies to decorate. I had the most fun with the cats which i made into santa cats and the Turkeys.
Now I have decorated cookies to take home later this week

That's exactly the recipe I'm looking for! I chickened out making it because I didn't want to serve it without doing at least one run-through. Thanks Faith and Penny.

What's going on with the Sullivan Street Bakery? I stopped by the Soho store and was thoroughly confused, everything looked and tasted the same but the name was different.

This evening, yet again, I made what I consider to be one of the best chicken recipes out there. According to epicurious.com, it comes from Ashkenazic and Sephardic traditions. I've prosletized about it here: http://foodandpaper.blogspot.com/2006/11/chicken-diaries-part-two.html
