I'm making butternut squash soup, a cipollini onion and mushroom pie, and pumpkin bread with walnuts. Mmmmm, fall!

Tonight I'm making a red chard soup with potatoes and fresh shell beans. Later in the week I've got a cauliflower gratin with goat cheese and proscuitto planned.

Ooh SjBreeze, that cauliflower gratin sounds lovely.

I made a pumpkin orzo (cooked risotto style) with sage last night. It was pretty great, cooked with a splash of balsamic.

Friday I made borsht which turned out perfectly even though it was my first crack at it. I also made my first batch of No-Knead bread (slow version) and yesterday I roasted a turkey complete with all the fixings!

Thanksgiving good times!

Tomorrow it's beef and broccoli because by then I'll be sick of turkey. Ha ha!

side-by-side taste test of no-knead bread and speedy no-knead bread.

lceatsall - last night I made butternut squash soup with an apple in there, and it was great - I'd recommend!

I have lots of cooking to do this week (and have already gotten a pretty good start)!
I've already made the cauliflower and chickpea curry that was featured on Serious Eats last week, some oven-dried tomatoes (to use in hummus sandwiches for lunches), and tonight I made white cheddar macaroni (or penne, in this case) and cheese and beet greens
Next up is roasted beet salad with yogurt dressing (in the nytimes a few weeks ago), then some baked french fries, and some kind of apple cake to bring to choir rehearsal on Sunday

Does anyone have coffee recommendations? I use a french press, but I have been less than thrilled with my coffee lately. I like a rich medium roast usually. I'm in DC, but happy to consider online purchasing if it is highly recommended. Thanks!

Katedet: Stumptown, Stumptown, Stumptown. Holler Mountain Blend. And lucky you, if you order it online, you don't have to deal with the hipster attitude. :)
