My brother's a young foodie, and he's about to start college next month. I wanted to send him a care package filled with yummies. I've already got an assortment of chutney's, chocolate spread and other delecacies from his favorite NY restaurants - but I'd also like to make him some things.
Anyone have any recepies for things that will travel and keep well?

you could make some homemade jarred products like caponata, olive spread, tomato sauce, an exotic preserve, sun-dried tomatoes with garlic in oil, etc. you could make crackers too. www.101cookbooks.com has a few cracker recipes that i've enjoyed.

I would assemble, freeze and then bake once you are ready to eat it. It can even be placed in the oven frozen but of course you would need to extend the cooking time quite a bit.

I am looking for a blender in the $90-100 range. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality blender in that range?
Thanks.
