Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day: Online

2007_05_21-Meyers.jpgIt's spring cleaning time, and when it comes to cleaning we're big fans of Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day products. Their supplies are made with natural essential oils, and they are all biodegradable and phosphate-free. This environmental friendliness doesn't keep them from doing good deep cleaning, and we love their scents, especially the Lemon Verbena.

All of their products, including laundry supplies and pet cleanup are available through their website - helpful since Mrs. Meyer's products are still difficult to find in some parts of the country. We also noticed that if you sign up for their mailing list they send you a $5 coupon off an order of $25 or more.

Apparently there is a real Mrs. Meyer - her name is Thelma, and she raised nine children!

Shipping is UPS, calculated from Minneapolis.

Have you ever ordered directly from their website? How have your experiences been?

I love Mrs. Meyers products and use them everyday. Glass cleaner, all purpose cleaner, laundry, hand soap, etc...My favorite is the geranium scent.

I've ordered from the webstore. Service was fast and good, no complaints at all!

I recall reading somewhere that Meyer's Clean Day was the product of Mrs. Meyers' daughter and a friend, both of whom had backgrounds in marketing. The article was focused on marketing, in fact, and how the image of Mrs. Meyers as well as the unique label design and upscale fragrances help justify charging more for the products. (How I wish I could link to that article but apparently I lost it on the Internets....)

They're still better than most of the caustic chemicals found on drugstore shelves. But wherever possible I usually try to save my pennies by using traditional homemade cleaners like vinegar, water, lemon juice, etc.

I found Meyer's products at the Container Store in NYC. In case someone is interested in knowing where to buy.
