Chelsea CSA and P.S. 11, a local elementary school, are teaming up to sell local, organic produce from Stoneledge Farm (see their cabbages below). The market supports the schools effort to promote healthy eating by enticing local families to the market not only with affordable prices, but with bonus cooking demonstrations and recipes using each week's bounty.

This market runs on Wednesdays from 8am - 12noon until November 28. It is located at 320 W. 21st Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues)

Another favorite student-run market in New York is the Lower East Side Girls Club market in the East Village. This market is a joint effort between the Girls Club and Angel Farms in Goshen, NY.

This market runs Wednesdays from 12noon - 6pm through the end of September. It is located at Avenue C and 9th Street.

Many colleges sponsor a farmers' market, like the one pictured at the top of the post at Northwestern University. Many universities are now jumping on the bandwagon: I was thrilled to recently hear that my own alma mater now has a has a farmers market, which suggests a huge shift in eating consciousness from the days when I was there.
